Alberta has voted to remain in Canada, according to an October 20 report by India Global Review, which attributed a projection to CBC showing around 76% backing continued membership and 23% supporting the start of a process towards a future separation referendum. BharatVox has not independently verified the vote or the CBC projection.
The reported 23% figure concerns support for beginning a referendum process, rather than an immediate decision to separate. The outlet described the outcome as a boost for Prime Minister Mark Carney and Canadian unity, while pointing to tensions between the oil-rich province and Ottawa over energy policy, immigration and provincial autonomy.
