France Prepares Soldier Deployment as Weekend Unrest Looms

France is preparing to deploy soldiers ahead of possible renewed unrest over the weekend, India Global Review reported on 21 October. Its account said curfews were in place and riot police were already on the streets, but did not identify the affected locations or specify the soldiers’ proposed role.

The report linked the tensions to public anger, political divisions and the government’s difficulties in advancing spending cuts. It described talks as offering little certainty, without detailing the participants or any agreement. The planned military deployment was not described as having begun.
