Mika Singh denies Daler Mehndi drinking claim after viral show

Singer Mika Singh has defended his brother Daler Mehndi after politician Subodh Uniyal accused the veteran performer of being intoxicated at a stage show in Narendranagar, Uttarakhand. According to India Today’s October 20 report, Mika rejected the allegation in an Instagram video and said Daler had been physically unwell following recent major surgery.

The dispute followed the circulation of clips in which Uniyal stepped onto the stage, criticised Daler’s singing and alleged that he was under the influence of alcohol. The intoxication claim remains an allegation; the report presents no independent evidence establishing it.

Mika said his brother had no history of drinking and challenged anyone to substantiate the accusation, declaring that he would give up singing if someone could establish that they had seen Daler consume alcohol.

Mika separates performance criticism from drinking allegation

Mika acknowledged that someone paying for a concert could question the quality of the performance, but rejected the leap from criticism of the singing to an accusation of intoxication.

He pointed to Daler’s roughly three-decade career and argued that performers often keep professional commitments despite illness or exhaustion. Drawing on his own approach to concerts, Mika said he would honour a booking even when unwell, regardless of the fee, and suggested his brother had done the same.

The explanation about recent surgery is Mika’s account of his brother’s health. The report does not identify the procedure or when it took place, and does not establish a medical explanation for Daler’s condition during the show.
