Monarch Butterfly Exhibit Traces 4,828-Km Journey in New York

The American Museum of Natural History in New York has opened ‘Monarch’s Journey,’ an exhibit exploring a butterfly migration that can stretch 4,828 kilometres and take up to two months, India Global Review reported.

Featuring illustrations by cartoonist and environmentalist Peter Kuper, the exhibit follows the orange-and-black monarch butterflies on their annual journey to central Mexico. Artwork and scientific displays highlight the importance of insects alongside threats to monarchs from habitat loss and human development.

Curator Jessica Ware encouraged visitors to help conserve the species by planting native milkweed and flowering plants, and supporting the protection of green spaces.
