US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visited Uzbekistan alongside more than 200 American business leaders and met President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and regional foreign ministers, according to an India Global Review report published on October 19.
The report described the visit as part of the Trump administration’s effort to expand Washington’s presence in resource-rich Central Asia. It said the US was seeking stronger economic relationships and greater access to rare earth minerals amid competition with China and Russia.
