Ixigo shares gained as much as 13% to ₹163.38 on the NSE on October 19 after the travel-booking platform posted its highest quarterly profit, Economic Times Markets reported. Profit after tax reached ₹63.42 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2026, although a partial sale of its Freshbus stake contributed to the result.
The Q2 FY27 earnings showed growth in transaction value and operating revenue alongside a decline in adjusted EBITDA. The record bottom line therefore included a non-operating boost rather than reflecting booking-business performance alone.
Bookings grow, but adjusted EBITDA declines
Gross transaction value increased 22% year-on-year to ₹5,304.47 crore, while revenue from operations rose 13% to ₹320.96 crore. Contribution margin increased 14% to ₹124.86 crore.
Adjusted EBITDA, however, fell 17% to ₹23.58 crore from ₹28.48 crore a year earlier. Profit before the share of an associate’s loss, exceptional items and tax was ₹33.53 crore.
In a joint statement, group CEO Aloke Bajpai, group co-CEO Rajnish Kumar and group CFO Saurabh Devendra Singh attributed part of the record profit to the Freshbus transaction. The reported figures do not specify the size of that contribution.
Hotels lead expansion from a smaller base
Hotels were Ixigo’s fastest-growing business line. Hotel gross transaction value rose 159% year-on-year to ₹111.34 crore, and revenue increased 528% to ₹8.1 crore. Room nights booked climbed 295% to more than 4.7 lakh during the quarter.
The company began disclosing hotels as a separate business line this quarter. It reported a gross take rate above 12%, with more than 86% of hotel bookings coming from its existing user base.
Its hotel inventory covered more than 70,000 properties across India. That included over 12,000 directly contracted properties spread across 1,100 towns.
Flights, buses and railway services widen reach
Flight gross transaction value grew 37%, while bus gross transaction value increased 32%. The company said higher airfares and difficulty securing confirmed train tickets continued to support intercity bus demand.
Ixigo also expanded distribution by powering train bookings on Uber. Railway food-delivery services through Zoop and Swiggy now cover more than 290 stations, while AbhiBus introduced a Women Zone booking option for women travelling alone.
Management identified hotels and artificial intelligence as areas of continued investment for long-term growth.
