Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: The Rise of a Legend registered Rs 4.88 crore in advance bookings across India within less than a day of sales opening, with nearly 85,000 tickets sold. India Today, citing tracking service Sacnilk, reported that the film’s booking footprint covered 104 cities as of 8 am on October 21.

The total includes block bookings: excluding those, the reported collection stood at Rs 3.05 crore. These are advance-sales figures ahead of the November 5 release, rather than receipts from completed theatrical screenings.

Delhi-NCR leads; Mumbai premium seats reach Rs 2,770

Delhi-NCR accounted for Rs 1.42 crore from 18,674 tickets, ahead of Mumbai’s Rs 1.01 crore from 14,823 tickets. Pune, Kolkata and Bengaluru also contributed to the early sales.

The Hindi version generated Rs 4.62 crore, the largest reported language contribution. Kannada-dubbed screenings recorded Rs 24.92 lakh, while Telugu bookings stood at Rs 47,400.

At PVR ICON: Phoenix Palladium in Mumbai’s Lower Parel, recliner seats for select IMAX 3D screenings on November 5 and 6 were listed at Rs 2,770. That price applies to those premium seats and shows, not to all tickets in the city. Mumbai’s listed screenings stretched from an earliest start of 6.45 am to a late show at 11.45 pm.

Booking rollout ahead of the Diwali release

Ticket sales began on October 20, more than two weeks before release. The initial rollout was reportedly slowed by a disagreement over distribution shares between Dharma Productions and exhibitors, before the makers announced nationwide availability. The report did not detail the terms of that disagreement.

The promotional campaign also included Rise of Asura, a video featuring Yash as Ravana performing to the Ravana Tandav. Its Hindi version has vocals by Vishal Dadlani and lyrics by Kumar Vishwas.

Cast and overseas distribution

The two-part adaptation features Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Its ensemble also includes Sunny Deol, Ravi Dubey, Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Anupam Kher and Rakul Preet Singh.

Prime Focus and Monster Mind Creations are producing the project, with Sony Pictures International handling overseas distribution. International advance bookings had not opened at the time of the report.
