People accused of shooting at actor Tiger Shroff’s car also carried out reconnaissance of Ranbir Kapoor’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra, India Today reported on October 21, citing sources. The claim emerged as Mumbai Police widened their investigation into an alleged network supplying firearms for the shooting.

The reported surveillance of Kapoor’s home remains a source-based allegation. It does not, by itself, establish that an attack on the actor was planned.

Police told a Mumbai court on Wednesday that the shooting at Shroff’s car was allegedly ordered by Anil Pandit, whom they describe as a US-based gangster from Panipat and an associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Eight people have been arrested in the investigation, according to the report.

Three accused remanded until October 31

Three accused were brought to Mumbai from Kota, Rajasthan, on Wednesday and produced before a magistrate by the Mumbai Crime Branch. They were identified as Rehan alias Sukka, from Sonipat in Haryana; Ritik Kurmi alias Roshan, originally from Begusarai in Bihar and living in Mumbai; and Phool Singh, from Haryana.

Seeking 14 days of police custody, investigators said they needed to recover the weapons and examine the alleged conspiracy and motive. They also told the court that two mobile phones had been destroyed and that call detail records and other electronic evidence needed to be collected.

Police said CCTV analysis and tracking a motorcycle allegedly used in the shooting had helped identify the accused.

Defence lawyers Ajinkya Mirgal and Satyabrat Joshi opposed further police custody. They argued that custody was unnecessary for recovering the weapons and that their clients had already been questioned during transit remand. After hearing both sides, the court granted police custody until October 31. The remand order is not a finding of guilt.

Police trace alleged firearms supply chain

Deputy Commissioner of Police Raj Tilak Roshan said five more people, including two women, had been apprehended in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh and were being taken to Mumbai. He said technical analysis and questioning had led investigators to a wider alleged firearms procurement and supply network.

According to Roshan, simultaneous raids were carried out on intelligence inputs with assistance from Delhi and Haryana police. Delhi Police named four suspects as Kunal, 21, and Sumit, 19, both from Sonipat district, and Radha and Babita, both 23, from Uttar Pradesh.

Delhi Police alleged that Kunal collected a pistol and 20 rounds in Amritsar on Pandit’s instructions, with Sumit accompanying him. Radha and Babita allegedly transported the weapon to Mumbai by train and delivered it to the attackers.

Roshan also alleged that a newly arrested male suspect stayed in Mumbai with the shooters to provide logistical help. The report did not identify that suspect by name. The allegations concerning the weapons network and Pandit’s role remain under investigation.
